The Closet Academic lives! I write when Inspired, like right now. Pages of a book are rumbling around in the ether. New chapters of life are always emerging. Silently Meditating for just a few minutes every day, especially in the morning before life hits, keeps me tethered and effortlessly in control. Bring on the craziness. Everything is possible. Decide for yourself. Use your feelings and imagination to navigate. Choose to feel good or at least feel better. We only have NOW. Feel better now? Feel better later. That’s how it works. What is your end game? Too far? Reel it back. Meditate, float in your Energy. Slow the chatter. BREATHE BREATHE BREATHE
To quote a line in Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom, “…Throughout our history America’s darkest days have always been followed by its finest hours.” I’ve had it pretty good lately. Especially for someone who, a few months ago, stopped practicing what she preached. Things felt a little rocky. I started reminding myself to just breathe baby breathe even if only for a few minutes. The rest of the time I’m trying to be mindful and appreciate the heck out of things. When I picked up the stick again, seemed in an instant everything changed, reshaped and improved upon the improvements! It never ends!
Meditation, silent meditation particularly, automatically creates mindfulness. If you are reading this you likely have some kind of meditation practice going. I find that adding a silent practice, with consecutive minutes of focusing on the breath, gives us exponential benefit. Our brains literally morph, changing shape enabling a happy life experience. When I’m in the pits I can be mindful of it. The finest hours are at hand. With a few minutes of focusing on the breath, bingbangboom I’m in a better feeling place!
I’ve noticed it’s as though we create a reservoir of sorts that holds limitless energy and wellness to flow easily through life. Even when we’re in a meditation dry spell we can pull from the reservoir. I am amazed at how naturally endurance and resilience and unencumbered fortitude is at our fingertips. Moving forward, we are now in our finest hours. Meditate and make the most of it. It’s only natural.
I’m watching a linear trend in the world of blogging. Seems most disseminated content is now translated in steps 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 etc. Readers, like me, go straight to the bolded caption and I dare say, rarely read the descriptive paragraph that follows. Okay, I’ll cave. Here are 3 practical steps to Mindfulness and visiting the Gap.
MEDITATE – breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out – focus on breathing in and breathing out. It’s all about the breath, the breath, the breath.
MEDITATE some more – build up to 5, 10, 20 minutes every day focusing on the breath, the breath, the breath. Ideally, you are seated quietly and comfortably with eyes closed. Open with a cleansing breath and notice your lung capacity. Then just breathe normally, noticing, feeling, appreciating the breath.
And, did I mentionMEDITATE – Meditation is the name of the game. While we focus on our breath we can hear the Universal sound AUM. AUM is everywhere – the swirl of the breeze, the chirp of the crickets, the buzz of the machine, the tone of the chakras. Warning: Voicing an auditory AUM vibration, sealing the close of your practice, may lead to bliss.
We all breathe. Revisiting the Gap brings us to Mindfulness and Mindfulness is where the fun is. You cannot get meditation wrong. Just pay attention to your breath. When you notice your mind taking over in thought just bring it back to the breath. Go ahead. Tap into the Gap. Ride the wave of that AUM sound. It’s all there – love – appreciation – assistance – acknowledgement – Inspiration – guidance – awareness – upliftment. The Gap revisited… It’s only natural.
Caught you! I’ll bet you thought this was going to be another one of those dissertations on how suppressed women have been throughout the ages. Being a woman myself and drawing upon my own education and experience, I can only speak from my narrow view here in the USA. I confess, I don’t watch the news. There is nothing new. Everyone is always yelling about something. The good news derives from a person or situation that has clawed itself back up from the depths of the hell it was origianlly knocked into. In general, we’ve been living with totally normal corporate giant bullying. Let’s start with the big three, the cut-throats Vanderbilt, Rockefeller and Carnegie. Let’s also remember the Hearst and Murdoch empires. We’ve only grown from there and never looked back. Imagine if those powerhouses had been women.
The whole idea of women’s leadership is itself becoming big business. Handing over the reins of leadership to women is a tedious job. Trouble with this idea is women are being trained through a men’s model. The turmoil and Big Data mentality has evolved primarily through men and the left brainers. We do have emerging female leadership now, scant as it is. We are forced through the cracks of the old model. If you’re looking for real change you’ve got to be okay with breaking the mold. We cannot fix any problem with the same mind that created it. We women lead with a totally different set of rules. We come from the heart. Somewhere along the line coming from the heart has been dismissed as silly and totally unrealistic in running a business not to mention running a country. I beg to differ. A strong model of Stakeholder Capitalism, for instance, is a nice example of heart based business.
When I do light upon the subdermal news channel and see obedient females in their hysterical rage posing as voices of our time, I can understand why we tend to back away from leadership roles. We’re often duped into thinking that if we are to be leaders we have to go there. It’s not that we can’t learn science and math. That whole idea is ridiculous. We are inclined differently. We take a different approach. Had the top 3 honchos been women there may never have been the Great Depression or food lines. Certainly our news outlets would be directed toward a positive incline over the current negative decline.
Who is running this joint anyway? It’s a beautiful thing watching women take over the world – again. We do live longer after-all. We don’t get the vapors anymore because we’ve loosened our corsets. We’ve remembered how to b r e a t h e. In our b r e a t h i n g and meditation we naturally tap into our Power. As we tap into our Power our Intelligence and Mindfulness emerges and takes over.
Millennial right brainers and All humans of compassion, don’t let them break your Spirit. Meditate every day. Learn the rules and guidelines to understand how things currently work. Get a good look at the foundation and remodel. Listen to your gut. Be proactive and grow us out of here! Look toward how you would like to see our world to be. We will only ever evolve. You can’t fool Mother Nature.
